Sorry for the inactivity.  My computers been down but I’m back on track.  I just had a great time with a bunch of kids at The Way Out Ministries’ Camp Faith.  My next couple of posts will be sharing some lessons from that camp that I wrote based on the hippie movement of the 1960’s called Faith Train.  If you would like to check out the video from the camp you can go to thewayout.org  Peace man!

Picture Train1in your head an old steam train.  First, the Engine car that pulls the train with its great whistle. Behind that is the coal car that fuels the engine, and third is the caboose that carries the passengers down the track. Can you imagine putting the cars in a different order?  If you put the caboose first the train won’t go anywhere, If you put the coal car first then you have no fuel for the engine.  The train will only go down the track if things are in the right order.  Your life is like that too.

To pull you along safely in life there is an order! First, you need FAITH in Jesus to pull your life along, secondly you need FACTS (information) to fuel your faith and lastly you need FEELINGS.  Was it Faith, Facts, or feelings that led the hippie movement?  It was feelings that led them followed by faith then facts.  That was like trying to pull a train with the caboose in the lead! Whenever you allow your feelings to control the direction you are going you are headed for a crash! Sometimes you feel happy, sometimes you feel sad, sometimes you feel silly, sometimes you feel mad.  Different things effect the way you feel:  Eating or sleeping too much or too little, being too hot or too cold, thinking about something too much or too little.  Even unreal things affect our feelings like dreams, movies, and video games. Feelings are not a safe thing to lead us in our life because feelings change all the time.  That is why faith in Jesus must be what leads us in our life.

The Bible says: Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. Hebrews 11:8

Jesus is unchanging.  No matter how we feel on any day or night what Jesus said is always true, what Jesus did is always true, what Jesus promised is always true and where Jesus leads us is always right.

Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except through me”. John 14:6

Of the Bible Jesus said:  For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (Bible) until everything is accomplished. Matthew 5:18

The most important thing in your life is what leads you, what drives you and what pulls you along in this life. Put your faith in Jesus and let Him be your leader your whole life through.  Be a for real “Jesus people” and not just some hippie who follows feelings.  Your life has all kinds of tracks ahead—twists and turns, hills and valleys, cliffs and rocks. Your life tracks will go through heat, rain, sleet and snow.  You can only make it with a tough engine.  Make sure that engine is Faith in Jesus.
